Inspiration

I just arrived home from a three day trip/ school related trip for the completion of Related Learning Experience. It was a delivery room experience at a local Regional Hospital here in the Philippines.
Facility wise, quiet ok, They observed sterility though not that complete instruments used due to lack of supplies. Resourceful enough they used wrappers of sterile gloves as sterile lining and only uses two forceps and a scissors for cutting the umbilical cord with additional tissue forcep for first time mommies.
There are seven delivery table and all of them are alternately used due to number of babies to be delivered.
Giving birth is indeed not that easy like having a difficult bowel movement. A good amount of holding breathe is required to push the baby out and a sum amount of encouragement and self help from the mommy to finally welcome the little angels.
We were lucky to witness delivery of twins, Unfortunately the first of the twin, baby girl came out with a cleft palate, the next one was a boy but obviously small and weak. They were immediately admitted to NICU for further management.
We also witnessed the delivery of a poor 6 moths male still birth. he looks so fragile that when they touched their skin its like a wet tissue slowly disintegrating. His eyes are slightly opened, he looks like an alien balloon, Soft and water filled. He is so tiny that i cant dare look at his face while tearing my heart apart.
It was a experience I'll cherish for the rest of my life. It help me thought of the health care facilities in our country, the sarifices ad love of the mothers to us, the responsibility of being a mother and the wonders of life.
